GG Commends Mustard Seed Communities for Aiding the Less Fortunate

Governor-General, His Excellency, the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, has commended the staff of the Mustard Seed Communities for the tremendous work they have been doing in caring for the less fortunate in the society.
“We are truly inspired and touched by the wonderful outpouring of love and care for humanity. We see the spirit of community being operationalised incarnate in the lives of those who are serving and those who are receiving care,” he stated.
The Governor-General and Her Excellency the Most Hon. Lady Allen, today (July 27) toured ‘My Fathers House’ located at 1Mahoe Drive in Kingston, which is the headquarters of the Mustard Seed Communities. The facility, which was opened in 1989, cares for abandoned children with disabilities.
Stating that “life is precious (and) nobody should be abandoned,” His Excellency, called on all Jamaicans to replicate the “art of love” as demonstrated by the Mustard Seed Communities and other charities that are giving care to the needy.

“We see people, who love people, people who care for people working here and not concerned…about the cost but more concerned about the care,” he said, noting that the tour was a “transforming experience”.
During the tour of the premises, Their Excellencies visited the dormitories, the ceramic studio, meditation garden, the Little Angels Learning Centre and the studios of ROOTS 96.1 FM, where they participated in a live radio interview. They also met and interacted with children, staff, and board members of the Mustard Seed Communities and ROOTS 96.1 FM, which the charity owns.
The Mustard Seed Communities is a faith-based non-profit organisation based in Kingston. The charity, which was founded in 1978, provides assistance for mentally and physically disabled children, homeless teenage mothers, abandoned or orphaned children, and those living with HIV/AIDS.
