The Full Story

Chairman of the St. Elizabeth Homecoming Foundation, Donna Parchment-Brown, has called on key stakeholders to collaborate for the development of the parish.

Mrs. Parchment-Brown, who was speaking at the monthly meeting of the St. Elizabeth Parish Council in Black River on September 12, noted that the parish has tremendous assets and with partnership and linkages it can contribute more to the growth of the parish and the nation.

“St. Elizabeth has an opportunity to lead by having a strong, vibrant growing sense of being a joined-up parish where we are doing things together,” she said.

She urged council members to collaborate with the foundation on its development plans, especially its students’ empowerment programme, aimed at encouraging students to excel.

In his response, Mayor of Black River, Councillor Everton Fisher, said the Council welcomes partnerships as working together will usher in development results at a much faster rate than initiatives undertaken by one individual or entity.

“We believe that partnership will bring more results, and these are the sort of initiatives that we at the St. Elizabeth Parish Council want to spearhead. Whether it is the Chamber of Commerce, the Homecoming Foundation, Ministers’ Fraternal – all these groups have contributions to make, and we will be working with you as best as possible. Working with each other hand-in-hand can only enhance the development of the parish,” the Mayor said.

The St. Elizabeth Homecoming Foundation, which is celebrating its 21st year in 2013, is a medium for the co-ordination of economic and social initiatives for the development of the parish.

Recently, the foundation established a transformation team headed by businessman, Dr. Trevor Hamilton, to accelerate development projects for the parish.
