Fire Destroys House In St. Elizabeth

Fire destroyed a five-apartment house in the Nanny Jointwood district of St. Elizabeth this morning.
The family of six, who occupies the dwelling, was reportedly at home about 3:40 a.m., when fire was seen coming from a section of the house. The police and fire brigade were summoned and one unit from the Black River Fire Department responded. The fire however, quickly spread engulfing the building. Luckily all the occupants escaped unscathed.
Loss is estimated to be $1.3 million. The house was not insured.
The Maggotty Police, who are continuing their investigations, suspect that arson was the source of the fire.
