Exhibition Opens at Seville Museum

MONTEGO BAY – Minister of Youth and Culture, Hon. Lisa Hanna says that her Ministry is committed to opening three museums before Independence of this year, as part of its strategic mandate in closing out Jamaica 50 celebrations.

A museum was recently opened in Roxborough, Manchester, and another at Seville Great House, in St. Ann.

She disclosed that a third “national museum for the people of Jamaica” will be opened on July 21.

Miss Hanna was speaking at the opening of the Seville Exhibition, in the museum at the Seville Great House, in St. Ann, on Friday, July 12.

She described the Seville Great House, as a place with a convergence of dynamic cultures. Minister Hanna argued that the diversity of the Jamaican people makes the nation a melting pot of a very strong, proud and resilient people, who understand that reconstructing their future requires an understanding of their past.

Meanwhile, Opposition Spokesperson on Youth, Sports, Gender Affairs, Entertainment and Culture, Olivia Grange, described the Seville Museum project as one which showcases the immense possibilities which engage.
