The Full Story

The Caribbean pavilion will be one of the main attractions at the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT) Summer Fancy Food Show, to be held at Jacob K. Javits Centre in New York from July 8-10.
A wide array of foods from the islands of Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago will be showcased in the pavilion for the three days.
Over 100 authentic Caribbean products will also be on display, including candy and individual snacks, condiments, conserves, jams, seasonings, shelf stable mixes, shelf stable and refrigerated sauces, salsas and dips, sodas, juices, rum and fruit cakes as well as nutmeg jams, jellies and liquor.
The exhibitors in the Caribbean pavilion will be Calypso Bakeries of Barbados; Grace Foods International, Honey Bun and Central Food Packers of Jamaica; Caribbean Specialty Foods, KC Confectionary Limited, Matouk International USA, RHS Marketing and Tropickle Foods of Trinidad and Tobago; and De La Grenade Industries from Grenada.
Companies have seen a rise in demand by US retailers for authentic Caribbean products, and Caribbean Export Development Agency Technical Advisor, Sam Kruiner sees the potential for tremendous growth by Caribbean producers of specialty foods.
“We continue to see a growing demand for these Caribbean products, not only in the traditional Northeastern and Southern US markets, but in areas such as the West Coast and Southeastern,” he noted.
The pavilion is being set up by Caribbean Export Development Agency, which has been organizing the booth for 14 years.
