June 26, 2007

The Full Story

Cabinet has approved a submission from the Health Corporation of Jamaica for the purchase of a property at 2 Union Square in Cross Roads, Kingston.
This building houses the Drug Serv Pharmacy, and will be purchased at a cost of $23 million.
This was announced by Minister of Information and Development, Donald Buchanan, at the weekly post Cabinet press briefing, held at Jamaica House yesterday (June 25).
“The funding for this particular purchase will come from savings made by the corporation in the amount of some $5 million and a mortgage arrangement through the Bank of Nova Scotia for $18 million,” Mr. Buchanan informed.
“The reason why this property is being purchased is to ensure that the facility which is housed there will continue to operate from there, and continue to provide the services which it has been providing,” the Minister added.
