The Full Story

Residents of East Kingston are being urged to come out for the Legal Aid Council’s (LAC) Justice Fair, which will be held on Wednesday (December 7) at the Vauxhall High School.

The event, from 10:00 a.m. to 4: 00 p.m. involves collaboration with the Citizen Security and Justice Programme (CSJP). It is the final in the series of the LAC sensitisation fairs for the year.

Executive Director, LAC, Hugh Faulkner, told JIS News that the objective of the fairs is to bring justice resources closer to the public.

“We have a number of legal-aid clinics spread across the island, but some communities are not within close proximity to the clinics. Therefore, the aim of the fairs is to ensure that more Jamaicans have access to justice,” he said.

The public will be provided with free legal advice, consultation and information from a number of public-sector entities.

These entities include Dispute Resolution Foundation; Victim Support Division; Criminal and Civil Justice Administration; Office of Utilities Regulation; Consumer Affairs Commission; Office of the Children’s Advocate; Office of the Public Defender, and the CSJP.
