Rollington Town Health Centre Closed

November 3, 2009

The Full Story

The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) has advised the public that the Rollington Town Health Centre, Giltress Street, Kingston 2, has been closed, temporarily, due to a fatal shooting incident on Monday morning.
“The management of the Region took the decision to temporarily close the health centre, because of this tragic incident which has left the staff severely traumatised,” Regional Director, Donald Farquharson, stated.
He said that members of staff who were present during the ordeal have been offered counselling, and arrangements have been made for follow up sessions for those who need it. The staff has also been given time-off to recuperate.
Mr. Farquharson said that the centre will reopen after a full assessment of the incident, and when the Region is satisfied that staff and patients are not at risk.
Persons who normally use the health centre have been asked to use the Windward Road and Norman Gardens centres, instead.
