Transport, Works and Housing Minister Dr. the Hon. Omar Davies is expressing regret to the family and friends as well as school community, at the death of an Ascot High School student which resulted from a crash, in Portmore, St. Catherine, this morning.
The Minister said that he is saddened by occurrences where fatalities and injuries result from road crashes, but even more so, when the casualties are from among the vulnerable groups such as children and the aged. He is using the opportunity to call on all road users to redouble efforts in keeping roadways safe, citing the attempts being made to achieve the ‘Below 300’ target this year as far as road fatalities are concerned, as being a priority.
He says that he has been advised that the Police are conducting investigations into the circumstances associated with the accident and that he is awaiting a report.
