Tomorrow- (Aug 7) Final Opportunity to View the Body of ‘Lady B’ at the National Indoor Sports Centre

Members of the public wishing to pay their respects to Lady Bustamante will have a final opportunity to do so tomorrow (Aug. 7) between the hours of 10:00 am -4:00 pm, when her body will be lying at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston.
The public is being advised that on the day of the funeral service (Saturday August 8, 1:00pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Church on Old Hope Road), there will be no public viewing. Saturday has also been declared a national day of mourning for Lady Bustamante, widow of National Hero Sir Alexander Bustamante.
As a mark of respect for the many years, which Lady Bustamante devoted to nation building and workers’ rights, persons not attending the funeral but wishing to participate are asked to wear sober, modest attire, engage in quiet activities for the day and also, where appropriate, fly the national flag at half mast.
Starting at 12:00 noon, on Saturday August 8, motorists using the areas of Matilda’s Corner going South to the National Heroes Circle are advised to expect temporary road closures and diversions as a result of observances of the official funeral for Lady Bustamante.
This will affect travelers between Matilda’s Corner, Liguanea, Stanton Terrace, Herb McKenley Drive / Roosevelt Avenue , Arthur Wint Drive , Tom Redcam Drive , Caledonia Avenue , Marescaux Road and the National Heroes Circle.
Following the service at the Sts Peter and Paul Church , the funeral procession for Lady Bustamante will take the following route to the National Heroes Circle:
. Old Hope Road East to Stanton Terrace, South to Herb McKenley Boulevard ( Roosevelt Avenue ), West to Arthur Wint Drive .
. Medical staff of the Bustamante Hospital for Children will line the route approaching the hospital;
. South to Tom Redcam Drive, West to Caledonia Avenue, South to Marescaux Road ;
. Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and other uniformed groups including the cadets, Boys Scouts; Girl Guides will line the route approaching the National Heroes Park
. East National Heroes Circle to South National Heroes Circle , into the National Heroes Park .
