St.Vincent Prime Minister Visits Former President Aristide

Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves paid a brief personal visit to former President of the Republic of Haiti, Jean Bertrand Aristide on Saturday, March 20. The meeting took place at the Government house where Mr. Aristide and his family are temporary guests of the Jamaican authorities.
Dr. Gonsalves was in Jamaica at the weekend for a series of speaking engagements and used the opportunity to meet with the former Haitian leader.
Huntley Medley, Media Liaison to the former President said Mr. Aristide and Prime Minister Gonsalves discussed the progress the Aristides were making with plans for permanent residence. “President Aristide and his wife and I are friends and when friends are in adversity, it is important that you stand with them,” Prime Minister Gonsalves said in a statement released through the Jamaica Information Service.
Dr. Gonsalves said he also met with Prime Minister P.J. Patterson and commended the Jamaican leader on the principled stand he had taken on the matter, both as Chairman of the Caribbean Community and as Head of the Government of Jamaica.
