SRC to Improve Customer Productivity Through Science and Technology Solutions

The Scientific Research (SRC), during the current fiscal period, plans to improve and increase customer productivity through the provision of science and technology solutions.
As contained in a Ministry Paper that was tabled in the House of Representatives recently by Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Karl Samuda, the issue of low productivity in companies will be addressed, with baseline data on selected companies analyzed by September 2008 and strategies implemented by March 2009.
In addition, cleaner production technologies will be implemented in at least one company, with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and/or Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) consultancy established in at least one food processing company by March 2009.
The SRC will also provide technical assistance in food processing to clients and satisfy at least 75 per cent of requests made. Also, assistance will be provided in the production of tissue-cultured plantlets to at least 10 clients, while client contracts will be satisfactorily completed in vent scheduling, plant diagnostic services, scheduled processing, and process development.
Consultancy services or research projects will be carried out in at least eight new wastewater treatment operations, while at least 60 feasibility studies and 20 anaerobic wastewater treatment systems should be completed by March 2009.
According to the Ministry Paper, training programmes for external customers will be developed and implemented according to market strategy and needs. The SRC will also develop and review marketing and promotional plans by June 2008.
