Minister without Portfolio with responsibility for Sport, Hon. Natalie Neita Headley has congratulated the Jamaica Women’s Basketball Team on its success at the Caribbean Championships in the US Virgin Islands.

The national Women’s Basketball team defeated the Dominican Republic in a hard fought match to capture the Caribbean Championships on the weekend.

In offering her congratulations to the team which returned to the island on Sunday night, July 13, Minister Neita Headley said: “I am pleased to see our ladies dominate the Caribbean Championships and to so proudly represent Jamaica. I am truly pleased at what you have accomplished especially in the face of great sacrifice. I offer my heartiest congratulations.”

The Sport Minister said that with this latest dominance of the regional competition and the continued resolve of the team as well as the support of both Government and the private sector, the nation looks forward to an equally outstanding performance at the Centro Championships this coming weekend in Mexico and the Tournament of the Americas in August.

“We look to your continued success as our Women’s Basketball Team plays its part in advancing the pride of a people in Jamaica’s excellent sporting tradition,” Minister Neita Headley concluded.
