Sectoral Presentation by Deputy PM and Min. of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade

Mr. Speaker, once again I am privileged to speak in this Honourable House.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Hon. Dr. Kenneth Baugh, makes his presentation during the 2010/11 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday (July 13).

I remain heavily indebted to those who have afforded me this opportunity – the Councillors, constituency executive, workers and electors of West Central St.Catherine, my wife and family.
I commend our Prime Minister, Hon. Bruce Golding, for his leadership and commitment to the pursuit of solutions, for being receptive and responsive to hiscolleagues, and for having the courage to take decisive and innovative action on issues which have remained outstanding for decades. The rewards of this are already evident and augur well for the future of the people of this country.
Once again, I record my affirmation of the experience and expertise which exist in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Ministries andAgencies with which we collaborated.
I take this opportunity, Mr. Speaker, to note the passing of Dr. Herbert Eldemire, former Minister of Health and a member of this Honourable House forten years. He was a source of inspiration to me when I entered politics in 1979.
He was talented and charismatic. The Cabinet in which he served presided over the most progressive and prosperous period of our history. Read more
