Madam Speaker, I am honoured to once again be in the position to speak in the Sectoral Debate on matters concerning the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.
Madam Speaker, the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation touches on all areas that are critical to Jamaica’s sustainable development. Led by the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, Senator the Hon. Mathew Samuda, and myself, this Ministry is working to achieve its mandate – Economic Growth and Job Creation.

Madam Speaker, I begin my presentation with the Housing Portfolio. With over 57,000 units of the promised 70,000 houses in various stages of development, this Government is well on the way to delivering on its commitment to provide safe, affordable, adequate and legal housing for all Jamaicans.
This commitment is underpinned by the National Housing Policy and Implementation Plan. Madam Speaker this Policy and Implementation Plan is a major milestone in our history, being the first to be tabled in the houses of Parliament as a White Paper post-Independence.
