The Full Story

The deadline to register for the next Voters’ List is Monday, September 30.

The list is scheduled to be published on November 30, 2024.

Applications submitted after September 30 will be processed for the subsequent publication of the Voters’ List, scheduled for May 31, 2025.

Only registered electors are eligible to vote in upcoming and future elections and referenda.

Prospective electors are required to apply in person at any EOJ constituency office.

Applicants should wear dark or bright-coloured clothing (avoiding white or light colours) for their photograph.

Following the application, a residence verification team will visit the home address provided to complete the process.

Individuals who successfully register will receive a Voter ID card.

The ID card will be ready for collection at the EOJ constituency office where the elector is registered, approximately three weeks after the Voters’ List is published.

Registration is free of cost.

Persons already on the Voters’ List are reminded not to re-apply.

Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown, is appealing to registered electors who have not yet collected their Voter ID card to do so quickly.

“If you have not collected your renewed ID card, please visit your EOJ constituency office as soon as possible. We are especially urging those persons registered in St. Ann North Eastern whose ID cards are still at the constituency office, to collect them ahead of the by-election to make the voting process smoother on September 30,” he said.

The eligibility criteria include being at least 18 years old and a Jamaican or Commonwealth citizen, having resided in Jamaica for a minimum of 12 continuous months prior to registration.

Commonwealth citizens residing in Jamaica must provide relevant documentation when applying.

The Voters’ List is updated and published biannually on May 31 and November 30.
