Roads in Rio Grande Valley Being Rehabilitated

Several roads in the Rio Grande Valley area of Portland are currently being rehabilitated under the Special Flood Damage Repair Programme of the National Works Agency (NWA).
In an interview with JIS News, Collin Morrison, Senior Communications Officer at the NWA, said the work began in November of last year and included the roads from Alligator Church Bridge to Belleview, Windsor to Moore Town, Moore Town to Cornwall Barracks, Seaman’s Valley to Mill Bank and Breastworks to Windsor.
He said the work was being carried out by the NWA’s Force Account team, in conjunction with Millers Electrical and Construction Company. He added that the project should be completed by the end of March.
Mr. Morrison pointed out that the repairs were being implemented at a cost of $24 million, and included the bushing and cutting of overhanging tree branches, the cleaning of drains and the removal of landslips.He also noted that base material would be applied to the roads to improve the surfaces.
