RGD Stepping up Public Education Campaign

The Registrar General’s Department (RGD) is stepping up its public education campaign this month (May), which is observed as Child Month, to inform Jamaicans of the importance of birth registration.
Throughout the month, representatives of the RGD’s Mobile Outreach Team will make a number of stops at several schools and health centres across the island.
So far, the outreach team has visited some 13 schools, health centres and churches in the parishes of St. Catherine, St. Ann, St Elizabeth, Manchester and St. Mary, where scores of residents were able to apply for birth, death and marriage certificates. Additionally, members of the team assisted customers to conduct searches and who needed to obtain additional information in order to complete the application process.
The schedules for the remaining outreach sessions are: Catadupa Primary School in St. James on May 22; Seaforth Town Primary School in Westmoreland, May 24; and Green Island Primary School in Hanover, May 25.
Members of the team will also visit the Adelphi Health Centre in St. James on May 28; Albert Town High School in Trelawny on May 29; Tivoli High School in Kingston on May 30; and the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston on May 31.
These outreach meetings for Child Month are in addition to the more than 960 outreach meetings organized islandwide each year by the RGD.
