RGD for Three-City UK Tour

March 13, 2008

The Full Story

The Registrar General’s Department (RGD) is scheduled to undertake a three-city United Kingdom (UK) tour in late March to accept applications for birth, marriage, and death certificates from Jamaican nationals in the UK, and to resolve issues relating to these and other certified documents.
The tour begins in London on March 26 and 27 at the office of the Jamaican High Commission. The RGD team, which will be led by Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Patricia Holness, will then move to Birmingham on March 28 and 29 at the Caribbean Millennium Centre at Dudley Road in Winson Green, and at the West Indian Sports and Social Club at Moss Side, Manchester on March 31.
The RGD was last in the UK in December 2006 when the team was a part of a Jamaica National Doing Business with Jamaica tour. At that time, the team conducted a two-day clinic at the High Commission and provided face-to-face civil registration services to Jamaicans.
The team also addressed a number of registration challenges faced mostly by persons, who migrated to the UK in the 50s and 60s.
