In 2018, Jamaica imported over 900 million US dollars’ worth of food, which is very high for a country rich in agricultural resources. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries is therefore urging Jamaicans to eat more local produce as part of ongoing efforts to reduce the country’s food import bill.
