Banana Farmers on High Alert for Tropical Race 4 Disease (TR4) Disease

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has implemented preventative measures to safeguard Jamaica’s banana and plantain industry against the Tropical Race 4 Disease (TR4). Portfolio Minister Audley Shaw says the banana industry has been monitoring the TR4 disease since its emergence in Asia in 1964 and is putting farmers on high alert as it is starting to spread.
