Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will lead Jamaica’s delegation to the Seventh Summit of the Americas being held in Panama City, Panama April 10 to 11. The theme of the Seventh Summit is, “Prosperity with Equity: The Challenge of Cooperation in the Americas.
At Summits of the Americas Heads of State and Government of the member states of the Western Hemisphere (South America, The Caribbean, Central America and North America) discuss common policy issues, affirm shared values and commit to concerted actions at the national and regional level to address continuing and new challenges faced by countries in the Americas.
At the Seventh Summit, Cuba will participate in the Summit of the Americas for the first time.
The Prime Minister, who will depart the country on Friday, April 10 and return Sunday, April 12 will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator, the Hon. AJ Nicholson; Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Ms. Onika Miller; and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Ambassador Paul Robotham.
