Prime Minister the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller is commending Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), Ms. Onika Miller, who will be leaving that post and the public service as of October 1.  The Prime Minister says Ms. Miller has made an important and outstanding contribution to the development of Jamaica through administrative leadership in the public sector.

“The Permanent Secretary had full and prior discussions with me about her resignation, which she submitted to the Public Service Commission as she prepares to take up new professional responsibilities outside the public service,” the Prime Minister said in a statement on Thursday, September 10.

Prime Minister Simpson Miller also noted that the engagement and departure of Permanent Secretaries fall within the responsibilities of the Public Service Commission.

“However, I want to place on record my deep and sincere appreciation for the tireless, competent and high quality service that Ms. Miller provided to the OPM and to me as Prime Minister since I assumed Office in January 2012.  I am aware that she also provided many years of invaluable service to other public sector entities before her assignment to the OPM. She has my warmest and best wishes as she embarks on the next phase of her professional life,” the Prime Minister said.
