The Full Story

KINGSTON — An agreement was reached between the Ports Management and Security Limited and the Port Supervisors Union (PSU) Wednesday (October 19), for the resumption of normality at Port Bustamante beginning Thursday, October 20, 2011.

The decision was reached at a meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Kingston. Under the terms of agreement, normality will be restored beginning with the first shift, CCTV Monitors, at 7 a.m. followed by Security Screeners at 8 a.m.

Discussions are scheduled to continue at the Ministry on Thursday, October 27, beginning at 2 p.m., in relation to the dismissed worker.

The workers, who are responsible for security, including monitoring and screening cargo arriving at the port, went on strike last Friday in protest against the dismissal of a colleague.
