The Full Story

Prime Minister Bruce Golding and internationally known motivational speaker, Bishop T.D. Jakes, will address Church leaders from all denominations islandwide, in a consultative meeting of the National Transformation Programme (NTP) on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the National Indoor Sports Complex, starting at 9:30am.
The Church leaders will participate in discussions on solutions to the country’s moral, social and economic challenges.
National Transformation Programme Director, Rev Al Miller, says that the meeting is a necessary step if the church is to play its part in providing solutions for the challenges that face the nation.
“Our moral, social and economic foundations are being destroyed”, Rev. Miller said. This consultative meeting he added will be an exciting time for the church to plan and strategise for practical engagement to tackle the issues confronting our nation.
The National Transformation Programme is a non-partisan partnership of church, state, business and civil society, which will focus on moral, social and economic interventions, the restoration of strong family units and the entrenchment of values and attitudes necessary for individual prosperity, community development and the growth of the national economy.
It is hoped through the programme, to co-ordinate the implementation of necessary interventions in volatile urban and inner-city communities, to support crime fighting strategies for the arrest of crime and violence.
The NTP is extending a special invitation to all church leaders and their spouses to attend the meeting which gets underway at 9:30 am on Thursday, December 11 through to 12:00 noon at the National Indoor Sports Complex in Kingston.
