PM Congratulates Fire Fighters on Putting Out Blaze In Jack’s Hill

Prime Minister Bruce Golding has congratulated fire-fighters from the Rollington Town, Stony Hill stations and the Rapid Response team, who up to early this morning, were engaged in putting out a massive fire which engulfed a large section of Jack’s Hill, St Andrew last night.
Mr. Golding commended the fire-fighters for their prompt and resourceful response to what was a very threatening and dangerous situation.The Prime Minister kept in regular contact with the Minister of State for Local Government, Robert Montague, who rushed to the scene from St. Mary, last night to oversee the fire fighting operations.
The Prime Minister has warned persons engaged in the clearing of land to be extremely careful during this dry season as bush fires pose a serious threat to life and property. He said the police will be called upon to increase their vigilance and to prosecute persons whose careless activities endanger life and property.
