Permanent Secretary for Energy and Climate Symposium

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Mining, Marcia Forbes, will participate in a roundtable discussion on renewable energy at the “Americas Energy and Climate Symposium” in Peru on Monday June 15, 2009.
The primary objective of the symposium is for participating countries to have dialogue on collaborative tools and technologies that may be utilised to help the Americas develop its renewable energy potential.
The development of renewable energy sources is seen as one of the most effective ways to achieve energy diversification while supporting environmental sustainability and addressing climate change.
At the opening of Green Expo 2009, Mrs. Forbes assured the Jamaican public that the Government was committed to striking and maintaining a delicate balance between the pursuit of its energy and by extension development goals and the preservation of the environment.
