Newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for East Portland, Ann Marie Vaz, was sworn in today (April 16), during the sitting of the House of Representatives.
The Facts
- After taking the Oath of Office, the MP was welcomed by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, as well as other Members of Parliament on both sides of the House.
- Mrs Vaz was sworn in following her victory in the by-election held on Thursday, April 4. This followed the death of the incumbent MP, Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield, in February.

Newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for East Portland, Ann Marie Vaz, was sworn in today (April 16), during the sitting of the House of Representatives.
After taking the Oath of Office, the MP was welcomed by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, as well as other Members of Parliament on both sides of the House.

Mrs Vaz was sworn in following her victory in the by-election held on Thursday, April 4. This followed the death of the incumbent MP, Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield, in February.
As a result of the by-election, the ruling Jamaica Labour Party has a 34-29 majority in the Lower House.
