New leadership at PIOJ and STATIN

The Ministry of Finance and Planning wishes to announce the appointments of Mr. Colin Bullock as the new Director General of the PIanning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ); Miss Carol Coy as the new Director General at the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) and Mr. Everton McFarlane who will be assigned to the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

Mr. Colin Bullock, currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West Indies in the Department of Economics, was a former Financial Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Planning, from May 2, 2005 to 2008, and also served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica. He is a member of Dr. the Honourable Peter Phillips’ Economic Advisory Council. Mr. Bullock will assume duties on April 15, 2013.

Miss Carol Coy replaces Ms. Sonia Jackson, who has retired after 14 years of service to STATIN. Ms Coy was the Head of the Economic Accounting Division at STATIN, from 1984 to 2004, and was subsequently appointed Deputy Director General in 2012.

Ms Coy assumed duties on April 1, 2013.

Mr. Everton McFarlane, currently the Acting Director General at the PIOJ, will now be attached to the Ministry of Finance and Planning as of May 1, 2013.He will have responsibility for Economic Policy Coordination and Development Planning in the Office of the Financial Secretary. Mr. McFarlane was also a Deputy Director of Economic Planning and Policy Logistics at PIOJ. He spent six years at the Financial Services Commission, first as Director of Policy and Research and then as Senior Director of Securities Regulation.

Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. the Honourable Peter Phillips, and Financial Secretary, Mr. Devon Rowe, have expressed gratitude and sincere thanks to Ms. Jackson for her tremendous leadership and contributions to development of STATIN.
