National Security Minister Visits Recuperating Constable in Miami

Minister of National Security, Dr. Peter Phillips recently visited recuperating Constable Calvin Cargill, who is currently a patient at a rehabilitation centre in Miami.
Constable Cargill was shot in the line of duty last July in May Pen, Clarendon. As a result of his injuries, Constable Cargill has been left paralyzed. He has since been receiving medical care and physical rehabilitation at the facility. According to the medical staff at the facility, he is recovering steadily and responding satisfactorily to treatment.
He has been receiving extensive physical training, which is part of the long-term treatment. In an interview with JIS News, Constable Cargill expressed appreciation for the on-going support extended by the Government of Jamaica, and also officers of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). “Everyday I feel physically and emotionally stronger,” he said. Constable Cargill is hopeful he will be able to walk again one day. Meanwhile, he has asked for continued support and prayers from the many well-wishers and supporters throughout the community.
He joined the JCF in June 1999. On graduation from training school, he served in three divisions in Kingston – patrol, mobile reserve and anti-crime – before assuming duties in the May Pen region.
