National Police College Well on the Way to Achieving IADLEST Accreditation

The National Police College of Jamaica (NPCJ) is well on its way to becoming accredited by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST), says Police Commissioner, Dr. Kevin Blake.

“This will make us among only 34 of the approximately 300 police academies worldwide to have this designation,” the Commissioner stated.

He was speaking during the quarterly press briefing hosted by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), on Tuesday (July 16).

Dr. Blake underscored the organisation’s commitment to a culture of quality, noting that, “all the achievements we have been making are not by chance”.

“Our ongoing irreversible transformation of the JCF has been the result of the building of a deliberate quality management culture in our organisations,” he stated.

Dr. Blake further informed that the JCF completed the ISO 9001 surveillance audit in May, with an expansion of scope to include seven additional primary sites.

These are police locations in Kingston and St. Catherine and one additional service, bringing the scope to 21 sites, both primary and support, and five services.

The Commissioner identified the ISO 9001 Quality Models for the rest of the system as the Matilda’s Corner, Hunts Bay, Seaview Gardens, Olympic Gardens, Portmore, Constant Spring and Half-Way Tree police stations, as well as the Criminal Records Office.

“I encourage you, ladies and gentlemen, to test the standards at these police locations, in particular, and send me a note on what you discover,” Dr. Blake said.
