Minister Grange praises outstanding Special Olympics aquatics team

The Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Honourable Olivia Grange, MP has congratulated the “outstanding” Jamaica aquatics team that participated in the 2nd Special Olympics Latin America now on in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The 4x25m relay team of Andrew Bartholomew, Nicholas McBean, Crystal Knight and Racquel Lovindeer won the gold medal in their event.
Andrew Bartholomew also won the gold medal in the 25m freestyle.
Crystal Knight took the silver medal in the 25m backstroke and was fourth in the 25m freestyle. Racquel Lovindeer was sixth in the 25m freestyle
Nicholas McBean placed fourth in the 25m freestyle.
Minister Grange said:”I am very delighted to receive these results. I am especially pleased that each member of the team has medalled at the championships. What they have done is simply outstanding and I congratulate each and every one of them, the coaches, the parents, and the dedicated people who run Special Olympics Jamaica.
I pledge to them my continued support.
Well done team. You have made Jamaica very proud.”
The Jamaican contingent comprising the four swimmers, Yvonne McBean (Manager) and Buelah Bartholomew (Coach and Head of Delegation) will return to Jamaica on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2:50p.m.
