JLP and BITU Leadership Pay Tribute to Lady Bustamante on Her 97th Birthday

Prime Minister and Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader, Bruce Golding, along with the President of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU), Mr. Kavan Gayle, accompanied by JLP General Secretary, Karl Samuda, and BITU General Secretary, George Fyffe, visited Lady Bustamante on Sunday (March 8), in celebration of her 97th birthday which coincided with the observance of International Women’s Day.
‘Lady B’, widow of the late former Prime Minister of Jamaica and National Hero, Right Excellent Sir Alexander Bustamante, has been confined to bed in recent years. The Prime Minister said he was pleased with the excellent care ‘Lady B’ was receiving and commended her caregivers for their devotion to her well-being. He paid special tribute to Mr. Seragh Lakasingh and his wife, Effie, who supervise ‘Lady B’s’ care.
Lady Bustamante remains a Trustee of the Jamaica Labour Party and Honorary Treasurer of the BITU.
