The Full Story

National Security Minister, Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, says the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) is “doing everything” to find out what caused a helicopter to conduct an emergency landing in Dunbeholden, St. Catherine, this morning (November 26).

In a JIS News interview, the Minister expressed gratitude that there was no loss of life as a result of the incident.

He noted that the pilot was the sole occupant of the helicopter, a JDF Bell 206.

Meanwhile, Civil Military Cooperation and Media Affairs Officer for the JDF, Major Basil Jarrett, informed that the injured pilot was taken to hospital and is in stable condition and undergoing medical evaluation.

He said that the necessary investigations and recovery procedures are being carried out, and is urging residents to keep away from the site of the incident.

The public is also being asked to report aircraft parts found to the JDF headquarters at Up Park Camp by calling 876- 960-8776.
