Jamaica Seeking to Deepen Ties with China in Deep Sea Exploration and Research

Jamaica is seeking to deepen its ties with the People’s Republic of China, this time in the area of deep sea marine exploration and scientific research.Last month (October), a Chinese marine research vessel, Dayang Yihao, along with a nine-member delegation of the State Oceanic Administration of China visited Jamaica to pursue bilateral talks with both Government and private sector officials on marine scientific research and other marine-related areas of co-operation.
In an interview with JIS News, Ambassador Raymond Wolfe, Under Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade informed that the Chinese visit was very significant, as it “established the framework for co-operation in the very vital area of marine science”.
