November 8, 2008

The Full Story

The Jamaica Cancer Society, has benefitted from a donation of $21, 140, which represents part proceeds from the sale of the Jamaica Motorist Diary, published by Rex Printing and Stationery Company Limited.
Managing Director of the company, Clifton Hylton, who handed over the funds during a luncheon on Wednesday (Nov.5) at the Terra Nova All Suites Hotel in Kingston, said the donation represents $10 from the sale of each diary last year.
A cancer survivor for more than seven years, Mr. Hylton said that it was after attending a symposium put on by the Society that he was prompted to do a test, which revealed the cancer.
He said he was grateful to the Cancer Society for its help and support over the years and plans to sell more diaries to contribute $100,000 or even $200,000 to the Society.
Rex Printing and Stationery has also been the publisher of the Jamaican Driver’s Guide, which contains the road codes, for more than 42 years.
The Jamaica Cancer Society, a non-profit, non-governmental organisation formed in 1955, aims to reduce the impact of cancer in Jamaica, through education, cancer screening, counselling and emotional support.
