The Electronic Labour Exchange

The Full Story

The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) through the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) has embarked on an initiative known as the Electronic Labour Exchange (ELE) to boost employment.

Recruitment and Job Search

On the ELE platform, employers can advertise, post and edit job vacancies, as well as peruse the database of skilled workers. Employers may also utilise conference rooms at the MLSS to conduct interviews.

Job seekers may post résumés, search and apply for vacancies, as well as receive career guidance through workshops at all MLSS regional offices. Skills such as résumé writing and interview preparation are offered to improve the readiness of job seekers on the platform.

ELE is a core function of the national Labour Market Information System (LMIS).

The Labour Market Information System

The LMIS serves as a database of qualitative and quantitative information related to Jamaica’s labour market. The catalogue has updates on employment trends, supply and demands within the labour market, overseas employment as well as resources for entrepreneurs.

Research and analyses are also conducted by labour market data producers and disseminated via the website offering insight to students, jobseekers, policy makers, career developers and other stakeholders.

The services of LMIS are available at no cost.
