Prime Minister’s Youth Award for Excellence

The Prime Minister’s Youth Award for Excellence (PMYAE) was instated in 1998 as part of the Government’s drive to nurture excellence at the national level. Under this initiative, outstanding youth are recognised for their remarkable achievements in various fields, including:
- Academics
- Agriculture
- Arts and Culture
- Community Development
- Entrepreneurship
- Environmental Protection
- Journalism
- National leadership
- New Media
- Science and Technology
- Sports
Standard Criteria
The requirement for each category is specific to the respective field. The standard requirements for eligibility state that nominees must meet the award criteria for the category in which they are nominated and be:
- a Jamaican national or naturalised citizen for at least three years
- between 15 and 29 years of age
- an upstanding member of society
Nominators, including persons submitting self-nominations, must visit the website of the Ministry of Education and Youth to download and complete the designated form.
