The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) is committed to the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Jamaica. Entrepreneurs can access funding, research and development, business incubators (facilities to manufacture and process products) and accelerators (professional mentoring) from the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ), Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) and the Scientific Research Council (SRC).
Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ)
The DBJ was created to scaffold businesses from ideation, through start-up, to their established stages. Among other things, the DBJ supports MSMEs with:
• Financing and venture capital
• Capacity building
• Innovation Grant and Patent Grant
Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC)
The JBDC facilitates proper branding and export of quality products. JBDC offers MSMEs:
• Training and capacity building
• Product development and quality and standards compliance
• Market access and export support
• Intellectual property support
Scientific Research Council (SRC)
The SRC helps MSMEs with scientific research focused on the development of cosmetics, topical and consumable products. Entrepreneurs can access:
• Biotechnology, testing and analysis
• Food processing and manufacturing
• Wastewater management
