Government Preparing A Catalogue Of Services For GOV.JM Portal

Government is preparing a catalogue of automated services being provided by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), which will be available on the gov.jm portal.

The online portal brings together information housed on numerous government websites into a single space. It is a quick, easy online reference for persons to find information and do business with the State.

Speaking during an interview with JIS News, Project Management Specialist, Public Sector Transformation and Modernisation Division, (PSTMD), Office of the Cabinet, Trina Richards, said that MDAs are being engaged to ascertain whether the services they offer to the public are automated.

“We have a lot of service providers, and we are trying to get, right now, a catalogue of all the services across government, so we are reaching out to all the MDAs to give us the information,” she said.

She noted that if the services are automated or in a digital format then they could be linked to the portal.

Principal Director, Office of the Cabinet, Karlene McKenzie Spencer, told JIS News that the gov.jm is part of the the wider service excellence framework of government aimed to improve customer satisfaction.

She said that the PSTMD is working to build the capabilities of MDAs and have been assisting them in meeting Government’s targets and policies in order “to provide the best and highest quality services to our citizens and people who want to do business”.

“We are creating greater efficiency and greater accessibility and so we embarked on developing gov.jm the single gateway through which all government services are provided,” she pointed out.

The gov.jm project is a partnership involving the PSTMD, the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET) and its portfolio agency, eGov Jamaica Limited.
