The Government of Jamaica will accord an official funeral to the late former Bishop of the Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, the Right Reverend the Honourable Dr. Neville Wordsworth deSouza, OJ.
The Funeral Service will take place at the St. Andrew Parish Church, 6 Hagley Park Road, Kingston 10 on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, 11:00 am. The service will be preceded by musical tributes commencing at 10:00 am. Interment follows at the church cemetery.
The 4th Jamaican to lead the local church, Bishop deSouza was ordained a Deacon in 1958 and became a priest in 1959. He was consecrated Suffragan Bishop of Montego Bay in 1973 and was enthroned as Diocesan Bishop in 1979. He guided the ministry of the Church for 21 years until his retirement in 2000.
Bishop deSouza died on December 12.
