Finance and Planning Minister, Dr. the Hon. Peter Phillips, has encouraged the most prominent members of  New York’s financial community to seize the opportunity and invest in Jamaica.

Dr. Phillips told the potential investors that there are many  opportunities available in several areas, including the logistics hub, tourism, light manufacturing, business processing operations,  agriculture and health tourism, among others.

The Minister was speaking at a reception given in his honour by Commonwealth Partners, one of New York’s leading financial institutions, shortly after touring the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on  October 30.

Dr. Phillips  pointed out that the country had implemented several economic and regulatory reforms, making the economy much stronger, and making it  easier to do business in Jamaica.

The Minister cited the World Bank’s Doing Business Report 2014, which places Jamaica 58 out of 189 countries in the ease of doing business category.

He said the World Bank ranking has proven that Jamaica is serious about investments, as the foundations of the economy are getting stronger and stronger every day.
