The Full Story

Prime Minister Bruce Golding, has assured Members of Parliament that provisions are in the budget to buy emergency food supplies in the event of a natural disaster.
He was answering questions of the Standing Finance Committee of the House yesterday (April 14).
Noting that food could only be ordered just ahead of an impending hurricane, the Prime Minister said that the regular agencies would secure supplies as needed.
The Prime Minister also defended the decision to continue with plans to relocate the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM).
He noted that the present accommodations were not in good condition and that the property up for sale had 20,000 square feet of storage space.
The Prime Minister said that the opportunity to purchase the US AID property may not be available next year.
