Customs Seizures Net US$500,000

The Full Story

The Customs Department has been successful in its bid to have approximately US$565,160.00 forfeited to the Crown. The money was seized on Christmas Day at the Sangster International Airport. Three passengers were stopped and searched at the airport and were found to be in possession of the money which was not declared to Customs. The money was seized under the Proceeds of Crimes Act. This is the 136th seizure that has been forfeited to the Crown by the Customs Department since June 1, 2008 totalling approximately US$1,766,374.87.
