The Full Story

Jamaica Trade and Invest (formerly JAMPRO), today officially launched its Caribbean Business Club clubhouse at 20-24 Barbados Avenue in New Kingston.
The event was attended by a select group consisting of club members, private sector partners, members of the local media and organization officials.
Caribbean Business Club is one of Jamaica Trade and Invest’s (JTI) five business initiatives designed to help the nation gain maximum economic benefits from hosting CWC 2007. Launched in April 2006, it is a networking tool that creates international connections for members and, until today, those global links were primarily made possible via its website, www.caribbeanbusinessclub.com, and select events. Now local business members have a physical Clubhouse to build and maintain productive working relationships with potential investors and trade partners who have come on their own for Cricket or via JTI’s investor attraction hosting programme.
Members can interface in person at the Clubhouse – a relaxed and work friendly environment that is conveniently located in the heart of Kingston’s financial district. And it’s only 3 minutes walk from the major hotels and the LOC’s Cricket Village.
New JTI President, Robert Gregory, told the audience that Club was “the end result of many long months of hard work and planning” and he stated that “having this structured networking mechanism around major events, as part of a coordinated strategy to drive increased performance in trade and investment, is a business model that has been tested and proven around the world.” Melbourne did it successfully around the 2002 Commonwealth Games as well as Atlanta and Sydney for their hosting of the Olympic Games.
The objective of Caribbean Business Club is to establish strong contacts that should lead to lucrative business deals in the near future.
Local business persons, who want to meet with international counterparts and explore trade prospects or exchange business ideas, can do that comfortably at the clubhouse. Potential investors from emerging markets and cricket loving nations like India, Canada and Australia can visit the club to experience a “slice of Jamaica” through the sampling of Jamaican based products and services in the restaurant/lounge, seeing them on display in the showcase area or setting up meetings with suppliers in the private meeting room. There is also a fully equipped media centre.
Open daily, 7am-12 midnight the Caribbean Business Clubhouse also has a full calendar of evening activities planned. Interested persons can visit the website at www.caribbeanbusinessclub.com or call Jamaica Trade and Invest/JAMPRO for details.
The Montego Bay Caribbean Business Club Business Lounge opened on March 3 and closes on March 15. It is housed at Shop #10 in the exclusive Half Moon Shopping Village.
