Cabinet has approved 12 members to serve on the National Council on Reparations (NCR), which will be co-chaired by Professor Verene Shepherd and Lalaeta Davis Mattis.
This was disclosed by Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange, during her contribution to the 2016/17 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on July 12.
The other members of the NCR are Frank Phipps, Lord Anthony Gifford, Dr. Jalani Niaah, Professor Rupert Lewis, Steven Golding, Dr. Michael Barnett, Mutabaruka (Allan Hope), Kabu Ma’at Kheru (Andrea Williams), Danny Roberts, and Senator Kavan Gayle.
The NCR was previously known as the National Committee on Reparations.
Ms. Grange said the Council will be working closely with the CARICOM Reparations Commission.
