Traffic Changes to Facilitate ‘Fireworks On The Waterfront’

  • The changes took effect at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, and will remain until 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
  • In addition, Duke Street at the Nethersole Place intersection will be blocked from 12 noon, and the flow of traffic will be changed along Ocean Boulevard, Church Street, West Street and Princess Street.

The Police are advising motorists that there will be several traffic changes in downtown Kingston, on Wednesday, December 31, to facilitate the annual ‘Fireworks on the Waterfront’ event.

The changes took effect at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, and will remain until 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2015.

Among the streets that will be closed to vehicular traffic are: Ocean Boulevard at the West Street/Port Royal Street intersection; Ocean Boulevard travelling westward before the intersection of Princess Street; Princess Street at the intersection of Port Royal Street and Ocean Boulevard; and Orange Street below the entrance to the multi-storey car park.

In addition, Duke Street at the Nethersole Place intersection will be blocked from 12 noon, and the flow of traffic will be changed along Ocean Boulevard, Church Street, West Street and Princess Street.

The Police are also advising that paid public parking will be available at the Harbour Street Car Park, Bank of Jamaica Car Park, and Bank of Nova Scotia Car Park.

‘Fireworks on the Waterfront’ is being hosted by the Urban Development Corporation (UDC).
