$514 Million Allocated for Upgrading and Expansion of Mount St. Joseph High

Work will be advanced on the upgrading and expansion of Mount St. Joseph High School in Manchester in the upcoming fiscal year.
A sum of $514 million has been earmarked under the Education Transformation Programme to complete construction of the administrative, third and fourth-form blocks, and conclude pre-contract activities for the auditorium and canteen.
The details are outlined in the 2024/25 Estimates of Expenditure, tabled in the House of Representatives on Thursday (February 15).
Up to December 2023, Phase III of the fifth-form block and Phase IV of the sixth-form block were completed as well as architectural designs for the remaining buildout – third, fourth-form and administrative blocks and auditorium.
Additionally, procurement of services of a design consultant for the auditorium were completed.
The project, which commenced in April 2015 is slated for completion in March 2026 after two periods of extension.
The National Education Trust Limited (NET) is the implementing agency for the Education Transformation Programme, which has the objective of providing additional classrooms to alleviate the shift system and overcrowding in schools.
