November 17, 2006

The Full Story

In recognition of their service to the Government and people of Jamaica, 355 civil servants will be honoured at a ceremony to be held at King’s House on Wednesday, November 22, beginning at 2:45 p.m.
The civil servants to be awarded the Jamaica Civil Service Long Service Medal represent a wide cross section of civil servants who have given valuable years of service to Jamaica.
Introduced in 1988, the Long Service Medal is awarded each year at a special ceremony to give official recognition to civil servants who have served at least 25 years in the civil service.
Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Honourable Professor Kenneth Hall, and Prime Minister, the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, have been invited to participate in the proceedings.
The function will be held during the observance of Civil Service Week, which is scheduled for November 19-24.
