Funeral Assistance for Families in Clarendon

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security will be assisting with the funeral expenses of six persons in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, who lost their lives during Hurricane Ivan.
Delroy Palmer, the Ministry’s Parish Manager for Clarendon, told JIS News that a total assistance package of $480,000 would be provided, with each family to receive $80,000. “We have committed to helping in any way that we can to offset the ravages of this hurricane and we are in deep sympathy with those families who have lost their loved ones,” he stated.
According to Mr. Palmer, he had held discussions with the families of the deceased and all the postmortem examinations have been completed and funeral arrangements were being finalized. He noted that the funeral service for three of the persons would be held on Saturday (Oct. 2), two were to be buried on Sunday (Oct. 3), while the date for the remaining person is yet to be decided.
